Action and the Law of Attraction

I plan on having many, many entries on ClearDeep related to the Law of Attraction and using the Power of Thought for changing your life. I believe a large portion of “The Secret” to success lies within its practice. However, before addressing these topics, I would like to spend a bit of time posing a hypothetical question…

You are given 100 books to hand out. 50 of them are “The Secret” from Rhonda Byrne. 50 are “Awaken the Giant Within” from Anthony Robbins. After supplying these to 100 random people, you followup a year later and check their progress. Which group would show the most improvement? At the very least, superficially?

I envision the scales tipping heavily on Robbins’ side. I believe a body in motion (action) trumps the body at rest (picture Rodin’s thinker) most of the time.

Tony Robbins is known as the master motivator. A large portion of his book inspires you to take “massive action” in attaining your goals.  For individuals needing measurable results in a short time, it is difficult to find fault with his advice. However, more than a few pages motivating you to reflect on your life’s purpose will not be found. By itself, Awaken the Giant Within can leave you wanting…

On the other hand, even with the latent power of its underlying theme, “The Secret” lacks clear emphasis on taking physical action. In my opinion, this was a critical mistake. It is not difficult to imagine legions of Oprah viewers failing to attract wealth from the comfort of their couch. Similar to Robbins’ book outlined above, pages are there, but far too small in number (to be fair, one Oprah show discussion on this topic can be seen here).

I see an astute audience protesting, “I am putting the universe in motion with my thoughts. Everything is energy. This qualifies as action”.

If you have developed your faculties enough to vibrate at a sufficient frequency, I will not argue with you. But generally speaking, old-fashioned action will be required somewhere along your march for progress. Even something as absurd as being able to manifest a winning lottery ticket requires you to purchase it.

At day’s end, I still find “The Secret” to be a blessing in spite of its apparent shortcomings. It appears to have opened many eyes to the power of thought.

Point to ponder:

Attracting abundance may be more dependent on action than you presently believe.

I wish to continue this subject in my next entry, when I consider an excerpt from NOTES FROM THE UNDERGROUND by Feodor Dostoevsky.
