Process over Outcome
ClearDeep has previously reviewed topics such as the importance of being detached from outcome and having faith in inspired action . In Ellen Langer’s popular book, “Mindfulness“, one of the key concepts she examines is “process orientation”. In short, there are a number of benefits available by focusing on “doing rather than achieving”. I think this idea fits in nicely with these past Law of Attraction entries, and I’d like to take a quick look at it…
Preoccupation with Outcome can make us Mindless
So much of the Law of Attraction is based on the ability to enjoy the evolution of your desires. Being able to feel wonderful about things that are still on their way to you. When positive expectation is hampered by a preoccupation with outcome, Langer calls this mindlessness.
There is an extraordinary amount of value to be found in the journey to a destination. With mindless living, your eyes get fixated on a target and are filtering out knowledge available from present experiences. This stifles intuition and blocks creativity. If this sounds familiar, perhaps you should consider the likelihood that the Universe is showing you opportunities but you are unable to recognize them.
The Power of Now
Another point stressed in the book is the importance of “joy in the process”. In Law of Attraction terms this is similar to “joy in the moment”. A great analogy is given about a person who loves playing golf. Through practice they are able to better their score. If a new golf-ball appeared that could guarantee a hole-in-one on every shot would they really benefit from buying it? If they are only concerned with the outcome the answer is YES! But it is fairly obvious how this would take all the joy from the game. It’s really the same situation with many of the goals you have set in life. You need to recognize the importance of taking the time to uncover everyday treasures along the journey toward them.
Point to Ponder:
As soon as you honor the present moment, all unhappiness and struggle dissolve, and life begins to flow with joy and ease.

When you evaluate your position relative to Process vs. Outcome where does your focus generally lie?
